about

The way onto a US college team should not be a secret.

Every year thousands of athletes from Europe want to play and study in the US. Most only learn how it works by paying an agency. Varsio puts the same facts in front of you: who a team signs, where a spot opens, what it costs and who coaches there.

Our mission

A direct, open way from talent in Europe to a US team that fits. You see what a good agent would look up for you, and you make the decision yourself.

What we believe

  1. The facts are public. The overview was missing.

Rosters, coaching staffs and scholarship rules sit on thousands of college websites. We read them, sort them and put them side by side. Every entry keeps its source and the date we read it.

  2. You should know the price before you pay.

Many agencies only name a price after a call. Ours is on the website. For each school you see what it costs and, where the school publishes its scholarship rules, what your grades take off.

  3. Coaches want to hear from you.

We do not speak for you and we do not promise you a place. You write to the coaches yourself. A coach would rather hear from the athlete than from a middleman. Recruit, which opens soon, adds the contacts and a draft to start from.

  4. We say what we do not know.

Our data has gaps. Junior colleges and NAIA schools are less complete than the big NCAA divisions, and many assistant coaches have no public email. Where a number is an estimate, it is labeled as one.

Where the data stands today

103,143
players on today's rosters
21,417
of them from outside the US
5,816
teams with a roster on file
16,936
coach work emails

These numbers come straight from our database. Coaching staff pages are read again every night, most rosters about once a week. How our crawler works, and how a college or a person can opt out, is written down on the crawler page.

Who is behind Varsio

Varsio was started by Carl M Köster, a former college soccer player who took this route himself: first Tyler Junior College in Texas, a two-year college in the NJCAA, then Cumberland University in Tennessee, which plays in the NAIA. Both programs rank among the best in their divisions. His scholarship was a mix of athletic money and academic money for good grades. Nobody told him beforehand that grades pay too. Teammates from those years now play professionally.

Varsio is a small, independent company. No college pays to be shown, and no agency sits between you and the coach.

“Varsio is the map I wish I had.”
